Wednesday brings Slovenian derby with Krka

Cedevita Olimpija returns to the floor. On Wednesday at 20.00, the Ljubljana players will face Novo mesto’s Krka in the postponed match of Round 14 of the ABA League in the Leon Štukelj Sports Hall.

After last year’s October 4, Slovenian basketball fans are once again facing the eternal Slovenian basketball derby between Ljubljana’s Cedevita Olimpija and Novo mesto’s Krka. The Dragons will face Novo mesto’s squad in the remaining match of the Round 14 of the ABA League, and the duel will take place on Wednesday at 20.00 in the Leon Štukelj Sports Hall in Novo mesto.

The players of Ljubljana and Novo mesto met twice in the 2020/21 season. The teams clashed in Kranj on September 17 last year, and the victory with 78:67 was celebrated by Cedevita Olimpija in the Slovenian Super Cup. In the first round of the ABA League, it was 77:69 for the Dragons on October 4 last year in Stožice.

The Dragons continue to fight for the top spot in the ABA League standings, with 15 rounds behind them. The team of head coach Jurica Golemec has 12 victories so far. Novo mesto’s Krka, which also played 15 rounds, has won five times so far, and Novo mesto’s basketball players were much more successful in the first part of the Slovenian national championship, where they recorded 16 victories in 18 matches.
