Umoja Gibson Joins Barcelona

American point guard Umoja Gibson is leaving Cedevita Olimpija after an outstanding season to join Barcelona. The two clubs have reached an agreement on the transfer, with the Ljubljana club receiving a transfer fee, as Gibson was under contract for the 2026/27 season.

After one season in the green and orange jersey, Umoja Gibson bids farewell to Cedevita Olimpija. The Ljubljana club and Barcelona have agreed on the transfer of the 27-year-old American point guard, who will continue his career with one of Europe’s most successful basketball clubs. As Gibson was under contract with the Dragons through the 2026/27 season, Cedevita Olimpija will receive a transfer fee as part of the agreement.

During the 2025/26 campaign, Gibson established himself as one of the key players in head coach Zvezdan Mitrović’s squad and one of the standout performers in both European and regional competition. He averaged 15.9 points and 4.9 assists per game in the BKT EuroCup, while posting 15.8 points and 5.3 assists per game in the AdmiralBet ABA League, playing a major role in the Dragons’ success throughout the season.

His outstanding performances were also recognized with individual honors. Gibson was named the MVP of the 2025 Slovenian Super Cup and was also voted the Most Valuable Player of the Spar Cup Final Tournament, helping Cedevita Olimpija capture another domestic trophy.
