The team of Cedevita Olimpija will continue with basketball activities in the shortest possible time.
For the players of the Cedevita Olimpija senior team, it is a week that was mostly marked by forced rest from the efforts of the 2020/21 season. At the same time, players and members of the coaching staff performed testing for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the blood to prove the presence of COVID-19 antibodies.
Members of the team whose result proved the presence of COVID-19 antibodies will return to the sports hall as soon as possible and continue with basketball activities. All other members of the Cedevita Olimpija team, whose test for COVID-19 already showed a positive result in the initial tests, remain in self-isolation. Their health condition will continue to be monitored by the medical staff of Cedevita Olimpija.
If the presence of COVID-19 antibodies has not been detected in players who tested negative in the initial tests, the latter will undergo additional COVID-19 testing before returning to the training process.
Jaka Blažič, Edo Murić, Luka Rupnik, Alen Hodžić and Žiga Dimec will start the national team campaign on Sunday, despite the fact that Cedevita Olimpija was in talks with the Basketball Federation of Slovenia to skip the qualification cycle for EuroBasket 2022.
