On Sunday at 17.00, the players of Cedevita Olimpija will face the home team of Zadar in Zadar in the remaining match of the ninth round of the ABA League.

Despite the fact that at first it seemed that the players of Cedevita Olimpija would not step on the floor in the second weekend of January, the Dragons team traveled to northern Dalmatia in the early hours of Saturday morning, more precisely to Zadar, where they will face Zadar on Sunday at 17.00 in the postponed match of the ninth round of the ABA League.

The hosts of Sunday’s match have two wins on their account after nine games played in the ABA League this season. Zadar is doing much better in the Croatian national championship, recording 12 victories in 14 games. The players of Zadar last stepped on the floor on Tuesday and beat Osijek at home, with 73:70. In the ABA League, they faced Crvena zvezda mts last Saturday in Belgrade and lost 66:81. The most efficient player in Zadar in the regional competition is Dominik Mavra, who averages 13.7 points, 5.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Cedevita Olimpija enters the clash with Zadar after the Dragons spent a week in Belgrade and suffered a defeat against FMP (88:91), and beat Mego Soccerbet (93:88) to start the new calendar year 2021. On Tuesday, the team of head coach Jurica Golemac was supposed to face Buducnost VOLI, but the match was postponed due to COVID-19 cases with the team from Podgorica.

STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“After seven days of uncertainty, Sunday’s match with Zadar is ahead of us. We have been looking for an opponent several times in the last week and we did not know who we would face, but now we are traveling to Zadar. Zadar is a team that is well led, and throughout the season the club changes players to find the best chemistry and now they have found it. The player of Zadar are playing very well, they beat FMP in Belgrade and played a solid match against Crvena zvezda mts. We do not expect easy work. We have to be aware that we will have to do our best, and prove that we have quality on the court as well, because it will definitely not be easy for us.”

Žiga Dimec, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“A tough game against Zadar awaits for us. The away game in Zadar is always very demanding. We have to play defense, and give everything we’ve got, so that we can return to Ljubljana with another win.”
