After the visit to Turkey, the Cedevita Olimpija team returned to Ljubljana on Thursday, and on Saturday at 17.00 there is a new test in front of the head coach Jurica Golemac’s squad. In the seventh round of the regional league, the basketball players from Split are coming to Arena Stožice, and tickets for watching the match are already on sale.

The Cedevita Olimpija basketball players will return to the home floor of Arena Stožice on Saturday at 5 pm and face the Split team in the seventh round of the regional league in front of the home fans. After six rounds, the Ljubljana team has three victories and the same number of defeats, and on Saturday they will be able to chase their second consecutive regional victory in the Stožen Hall.

It will be possible to watch the match live on TV Slovenia 2 and Arena Sport 1.

Despite a poor start in the ABA League, Split has seven wins and one defeat in the Croatian national championship after eight matches, and together with Cedevita Junior it is at the top of the table. In the last three matches, the basketball players from Dalmatia have recorded three victories, among other things, they last defeated Cibona in the regional league in the Croatian derby (77:76). Split’s top scorer was Darko Bajo, who scored 26 points and added nine rebounds. The team, which owns three Euroleague titles, will also step on the floor on Friday at 18.00, when they will play in Šibenik in the Croatian national championship.

Ljubljana’s Cedevita Olimpija enters the match after breaking a series of defeats in the regional competition last Saturday in Laktaši against Igokea, and then lost on Wednesday in the third round of the 7DAYS EuroCup away to Bursa against Frutta Extra Bursaspor (84:93). Jaka Blažič proved to be the best in the green-orange jersey with 20 points.

STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“We don’t have much time to prepare for Saturday’s match with Split. We have a hard way behind us, and at the same time we played a bad match with Bursaspor, but on Wednesday we were not the right ones. We need to get back on the winning track, but it won’t be easy. Split plays very smart and physical basketball. We have to show a good game in defense and close the jump, and above all we have to play physical basketball because we have problems with that. When we get in touch, we have to step up if we want to record a very important victory in the regional league.”

Žiga Dimec, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“Split is a very tough team. If we want to win, we’re going to have to give our best, and start the match with focus, especially on the defensive end. We’re going to do everything in our power to keep the win at home.”
