New Cedevita Olimpija player Noah Kirkwood arrives in Ljubljana with a clear goal – to become an important part of a team that will be aiming high in the upcoming season. The Canadian guard became well acquainted with the club last season when he faced the Dragons in the EuroCup.
“What impressed me the most was the club culture, the style of play, and the coaching staff. Last season, I had the opportunity to play against Cedevita Olimpija twice in the EuroCup, so I was able to see up close how the team operates and the kind of basketball it plays. I’m very motivated to join the team and do everything I can to help us win games,” said Kirkwood upon his arrival.
He also did not hide his excitement about playing in front of the Ljubljana fans for the first time.
“I’m really looking forward to playing in front of our fans. I’ve heard so many positive things about their energy and the support they provide to the team. I can’t wait to come to Slovenia, meet the people, and experience the atmosphere in the arena.”
Fans can expect a player capable of contributing in many different aspects of the game. Versatility is what Kirkwood considers his greatest strength.
“I’m not a player who stands out in just one area, but I can contribute at a high level in many parts of the game. I can organize the offense, handle the ball, make shots, pass, and defend multiple positions. That versatility allows me to help the team in different ways and do whatever is necessary to win.”
Kirkwood arrives in Ljubljana with a wealth of international experience. The 2026/27 season will be his fourth in Europe and, at the same time, his fourth in a different country, something he says has played a major role in his development.
“Every year brings new challenges, different experiences, and tests. I believe that people grow through those moments – both as players and as individuals. I’ve always tried to take something valuable from every situation and use it to improve in the following season. When you look back, you realize that all those experiences have shaped you into the person you are today. For that, I’m very grateful.”
On the court, he describes himself as a team player who can contribute on both ends of the floor, while off the court he sees himself as someone who brings positive energy to the locker room.
“As a player, I would describe myself as a versatile basketball player who can help on both sides of the court and always puts the team first. As a person, I’m easygoing, positive, and I enjoy creating a good atmosphere in the locker room. I like to laugh, spend time with my teammates, and I believe strong team chemistry is very important.”
To conclude, the newest Dragon also had a message for the fans.
“I’m truly excited about coming to Ljubljana. I can’t wait to start working with the coaches, meet my new teammates, and get to work. I can promise that I’ll give my all every single day for the team and the club. See you soon!”
