After a successful first professional season in Slovenia, Brandon Murray is staying on the sunny side of the Alps. The American guard will wear the Cedevita Olimpija jersey in the upcoming season, and upon arriving in Ljubljana, he is not hiding his excitement about the new challenge, international competitions, and the opportunity to continue developing his career.
After spending his first professional season in Slovenia with GGD Šenčur, Brandon Murray will continue his journey in Ljubljana, where he will wear the Cedevita Olimpija jersey in the upcoming season. Upon joining the Dragons, he is enthusiastic about the new challenge and the opportunity to further develop his career. After his time in Šenčur, an entirely different experience awaits him in Ljubljana.
“I think moving to Ljubljana will be something special. I’m looking forward to living in the capital city, where I’ll be able to get to know the culture even better, embrace it as my own, and learn as much as possible about Slovenia as a whole.”
The new season will also bring Murray his first appearances in regional and European competitions. The opportunity to test himself against different teams and players is one of the reasons he is so excited about this new chapter.
“What I’m looking forward to most is the competition. I never shy away from challenges. I enjoy playing against different players who have different skills and styles of play. I’m excited to compete against teams from various parts of Europe and not just in Slovenia. Playing in international competitions is something special, and I can’t wait to show what I can contribute to the team and help it achieve as many victories as possible.”
Murray believes he made an important step forward in his individual development during his first European season. He highlights his pick-and-roll game and quicker decision-making as the areas in which he improved the most.
“I think I’ve improved the most in the pick-and-roll game. I recognize defensive rotations much better and find the right teammate to pass to more quickly. My previous coach placed a strong emphasis on making decisions without hesitation. I want to continue improving in all these areas. I want to spend even more time analyzing the game, watching film, and reading defenses better. It’s also important for me to be able to react in different situations on the court and help my teammates, because the best teams always come together and cover for each other’s mistakes.”
According to Murray, Cedevita Olimpija fans can expect an energetic and versatile player who will contribute on both ends of the floor.
“I would describe myself as an athletic scorer and a player who contributes on both sides of the court. I always want to guard the opposing team’s best player. I love playing at a fast pace and in transition. I’m a competitive player who gives everything on every possession. The fans are going to get someone who’s exciting to watch. I like simple basketball, but basketball that is effective.”
As he begins his new story in the green-and-orange jersey, he also had a message for the Dragons’ fans.
“To all the Dragons fans – we’re starting a new chapter, and I can’t wait to become a part of it. We’re going to have fun this season, win a lot of games, and make sure people are talking about us. I hope we can bring another trophy to Ljubljana. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly. Let’s start this new story, enjoy it, and appreciate every day that lies ahead.”
