Cedevita Olimpija Basketball Club and American forward-center Matthew Hurt have agreed to extend their cooperation. Following successful performances in the second half of the 2025/26 season, the 26-year-old player will remain in the green-and-orange jersey at least through the end of the 2026/27 competitive season.

Matthew Hurt joined Cedevita Olimpija at the beginning of January 2026 and quickly became an important part of the team. With his versatility, offensive quality, and reliable performances, he made a significant contribution to the team’s results in the closing stages of the season. Unfortunately, his season was cut short by a knee injury suffered in the first game of the Slovenian National Championship Finals series against Krka. Hurt will wear the Ljubljana club’s jersey for at least the 2026/27 season as well.

“Matthew showed in a short period of time that he can make an important contribution to our team with his qualities. Despite the unfortunate injury at the end of the season, we believe in his abilities and his character, and we are pleased that we have reached an agreement to continue our cooperation,” said Cedevita Olimpija Sporting Director Chechu Mulero upon announcing the contract extension with Matt Hurt.

Head coach Zvezdan Mitrović added: “Matt joined us during the previous season and integrated well into the team. We are pleased that we have extended our cooperation and that he will remain with us in Ljubljana.”

“I’m excited to be back with Cedevita Olimpija. I am ready to see you all again at Stožice next season! Let’s pack the arena to the last seat and get loud!” said Matthew Hurt after extending his contract with the Ljubljana club.

The American played in seven BKT EuroCup games during the 2025/26 season, averaging 6.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He made an even greater impact in the ABA League, where he averaged 11.1 points and 3.9 rebounds over 15 appearances. In the Slovenian National Championship Playoffs, he averaged 16.4 points and 3.2 rebounds across five games, while also making an important contribution on the team’s path to the domestic cup title. In two Spar Cup games, he averaged 18 points per game.
