Cedevita Olimpija senior squad has prevailed over Ilirija on Monday in Game 2 of the Spar Cup Quarterfinals with the final score of 86:68 and secured itself a spot at the Final Four Tournament of the domestic cup competition, that will take place on Thursday and Friday in Kodeljevo Sports Hall. The Dragons will be facing ECE Triglav of Kranj in the Semi-finals.
Cedevita Olimpija has secured itself a spot at the Final Four Tournament of the Spar Cup with two victories in the Quarterfinal series against Ilirija. After the scoreboard at the end of the first game of the Quarterfinals has been showing the final score of 97:80, the squad, led from the bench by Zvezdan Mitrović, prevailed over Ilirija on Monday in Game 2 with the score of 86:68. The reigning Slovenian champions are therefore back on the winning track after 2 defeats in a row and on Thursday and Friday, they will be fighting for their 24th cup trophy since Slovenia’s independence.
The Spar Cup Final Four Tournament will take place on Thursday and Friday in Kodeljevo. On Thursday, the Semifinal games will be on, while on Friday, the Final is coming up. In the first Semifinal, Cedevita Olimpija will take on ECE Triglav Kranj at 17.30, while in the second one, Krka will be facing Šentjur at 20.30. The Final will be on Friday 20.30.
GAME REPORT:
Cedevita Olimpija has done the majority of its job in the opening quarter, when Jaka Blažič set the quarter score with a buzzer-beating three-pointer (32:19). In the remainder of the game, the win of the Dragons has not been endangered and the latter have celebrated the second game of the Quarterfinal series.
In the squad, led from the bench by head coach Zvezdan Mitrović, Žiga Daneu led the way in scoring with 16 points on his record, while DeVante Jones added 13 points.
