Cedevita Olimpija has suffered a defeat in Game 1 of the Semi-finals on the road in Belgrade by the reigning regional league champions Crvena zvezda mts (83:92). The series now move to Ljubljana, where the squad, led by the head coach Jurica Golemac, will try to force Game 3 on Monday.
Cedevita Olimpija has entered the Semi-finals standoff against Crvena zvezda mts on the road in Belgrade with a defeat with the score of 93:83.
It has been a game, in which the hosts have been the better of the two squads almost throughout the game, and protected their advantage all until the end.
At the big break, Crvena zvezda mts had a 5-point lead (53:48), and as the second half begun, Edo Murić cut the gap to only 3 points (53:50). However, that’s when a 5:0 run by Crvena zvezda mts began, that put them up by 8 points (58:50) with 18 minutes to go in the game. As it turned out later in the clash, Cedevita Olimpija did not manage to make it anybody’s game again until the very end. The final score was 93:83.
The semi-final series, which is played in the best of three format, continues in Stožice Arena on Monday, 18.30. The squad, led by Jurica Golemac from the bench, needs the win on Monday, to force Game 3 of the Semi-finals.
Captain Jaka Blažič has been the top scorer of the Dragons with 20 points on his record, alongside 5 rebounds and assists each. Edo Murić added 14 points and Zoran Dragić 12 less. Alen Omić stopped at 11 points and 8 rebounds and Jacob Pullen at 10 points.
