The senior team of Cedevita Olimpija defeated Krka on Wednesday in the Leon Štukelj Sports Hall in Novo Mesto in the first game of the national championship finals series with a score of 90:89, taking a 1–0 lead in the series.
Cedevita Olimpija’s senior squad recorded its first victory of the national championship finals series against Krka on Wednesday in Novo Mesto. At the end of the game, the scoreboard in the Leon Štukelj Sports Hall showed 90:89 in favor of head coach Zvezdan Mitrović’s team, which now leads the finals 1–0 in wins.
The second game will take place on Saturday at 8:00 PM in Stožice, and tickets are already available at vstopnice.olimpija.com. The third game will be played on Monday at 6:00 PM, again in Novo Mesto. If necessary, the fourth and fifth games will be held next Wednesday in Ljubljana and next Friday in Novo Mesto.
GAME REPORT:
The spectators in Dvorana Leona Štuklja witnessed a closely contested game that was decided only after two overtimes, where either team could have seized the valuable victory. The decisive moment came right at the end of the match. Just when it seemed the home team would prevail, David Škara took matters into his own hands, pulled up for a mid-range shot, and at the final second of the game set the final score at 90–89 in favor of Cedevita Olimpija.
For the Dragons, DJ Stewart and Umoja Gibson each scored 20 points, Aleksej Nikolić added 15, David Škara had 11, and Miha Cerkvenik contributed 10.
