Cedevita Olimpija has grabbed a convincing win in the Game 1 of the National Championship Semifinals, as the Dragons prevailed over Terme Olimia Podčetrtek 96:70 in the packed Podčetrtek Sports Hall. The Dragons have therefore taken a 1:0 lead in the series.
The senior squad of Cedevita Olimpija has successfully entered the semifinal series of the domestic championship against Podčetrtek. On Thursday, a bit more than 48 hours after the decisive Game 3 of the AdmiralBet ABA League Quarterfinals, the Dragons have demonstrated their quality in the Podčetrtek Sports Hall and prevailed over their opponents with the final score of 96:70
The squad, led from the bench by head coach Zvezdan Mitrović, has taken a 1:0 lead in the series and the reigning Slovenian National Champions can advance to the Finals as early as Tuesday, when there will be Game 2 in Stožice Arena. The entrance to the game, that will start at 18:00 will be free of charge. The possible Game 3 would take place on Friday, 30 May in Podčetrtek.
GAME REPORT:
The Dragons did not waste time on their way to demonstrate their determination to reach the Finals in the shortest possible way and they were up by 15 points already at the end of the opening quarter (31:16). By halftime, their advantage has risen to 20 points (56:36) and in the remainder of the match, they have been calmly controlling the flow of the game, all until the win in the end with the final score of 96:70
For Cedevita Olimpija, Aleksej Nikolić led the way in scoring with 21 points on his record, while Brynton Lemar had 17 points.
