Comeback and win in the last game of 2021

Cedevita Olimpija squad has ended the 2021 and the first half of the season in the ABA League with a win in the 13th round game against Cibona in Zagreb. The squad of Ljubljana beat the competitors of Zagreb 82:79.

In the last game of both Cedevita Olimpija and Cibona in the 2021/22 AdmiralBet ABA League season, the Dragons have prevailed over the Wolves on the road in Zagreb. The visiting side came up with a comeback late in the game to grab their 8th win of the season and they have an 8:5 record midway through the season in the regional competition. This will place them in the 5th place in the Playoffs zone after 13 rounds.

After a game, that could slip either way throughout the 40 minutes of play, Cibona entered the last minute with a 3-point advantage (79:76), as Danko Branković made a dunk to increase the lead for his team. However, as it turned out later in the clash, it has been the experience by Cedevita Olimpija squad, that turned out to be crucial in the end.

They have prevented Cibona from scoring again and Yogi Ferrell and Jaka Blažič put their team in front by a point (79:80) in the final minute. Cibona had the possession for the win, though, but Zach Auguste came up with the crucial steal with 3 seconds remaining on the game clock and a dunk afterwards with the buzzer, to set the final score.

Jaka Blažič ended the game with 19 points, Auguste had 15, Omić 12 and 9 rebounds, while Yogi Ferrell and Melvin Ejim have both ended the clash with 10 points on their records.

Cedevita Olimpija squad will face a couple of days of es now and they will be back on court of Stožice Arena on 2 January, when they will face Krka in the 14th round of the ABA League. After a Slovenian derby in the regional competition, the Dragons will be back on court a day later, when they will face Zlatorog in Laško in the first Quarter-final game of the Spar Cup.
