Cedevita Olimpija squad got back to their Stožice Arena on Saturday and have written down a new win. They have beaten the visitors from Split 86:60.

The squad, led from the bench by head coach Jurica Golemac, has convincingly won the game against Split. They had a huge advantage already by halftime, so the Dragons’ head coach offered a chance to play to every single green and orange player. In the end, the score was 26 points in favour of the hosts (86:60).

The squad of Ljubljana led since the first minute onwards. At first, Split squad have managed to stay in touch with them and then at the end of the first quarter Edo Murić got into the right mood and scored seven straight points. The score after the opening ten minutes was 22:13 for the home team. Jurica Golemac’s team has been increasing their lead in the remaining minutes. Murić’s block and steal on one end and two straight triples by Jacob Pullen, alongside three dunks by Jackie Carmichael were the reasons for the high advantage at halftime (47:28).

In the second half of the game, there haven’t been any changes. After three quarters, the Dragons led by 27 points (66:39) and in the end they won 86:60.

Edo Murić was the most efficient in the home squad with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Captain Jaka Blažič has demonstrated a great performance with 14 points. Jacob Pullen had one less.

The Dragons will be back on the Stožice court on Wednesday. At 20.00 the game of the fourth round of the 7DAYS EuroCup against Ulm will begin.

QUOTES AFTER THE GAME:

Jurica Golemac, Cedevita Olimpija Head Coach:
“Congratulations to the guys for great energy. It has been evident, that Split players have been tired from their last game and were also missing a couple of players. For us it’s important to be back on the winning track and now we have some time to practice and get ready for the next games. I would like to praise the fans. The people of Ljubljana love basketball and I am convinced that they understand that not everything goes according to our plans all the time, but we will always keep fighting no matter what.”

Edo Murić, Cedevita Olimpija player:
“We have been aware of the fact that a tough game was ahead of us. For sure Split has demonstrated some good performances this season, so we had to take them seriously. We have seen that we lacked a bit of energy against Bursa and that’s why we entered the game against Split with extra motivation. We have shown why many people considered us as favourites of this game and we played well for the entire 40 minutes.”
