Young Cedevita Olimpija team played Rogaška in the Round 2 of the Nova KBM League Championship stage and lost in the final seconds (77:80).
Cedevita Olimpija was handed their first loss in the NKBM League. For the rejuvenated team lead by Jurica Golemac’s assistant Teo Čizmić Rogaška was too hard of a nut to crack as they were defeated 77:80.
Cedevita Olimpija’s young squad was filled mostly with the players from the junior team for whom the game against Rogaška was a chance to experience the basketball at the highest level in Slovenia.
The away team got into an early lead but young Dragons soon got going as well and the teams were tied at the half time (37:37). In the third quarter, after a three from Luka Ščuka, the Ljubljana team secured their biggest lead of the game at 47:39.
Rogaška made a comeback and was up by seven heading into the fourth quarter. The team from Stožice made a run late into the game to try extend the game into the extra time but the three from Petar Vujačić, former Cedevita Olimpija player, in the last seconds killed their chances of winning.
Luka Ščuka had 23 points. Dan Duščak added 19 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds. Rok Radović recorded 15 points and five rebounds.
Focus of Cedevita Olimpija’s main squad is already at the Saturdays game against Borac Čačak in the Round 20 of the ABA League.
