Cedevita Olimpija squad has been hosting Budućnost VOLI in the 5th round of the regional league and suffered a defeat in the end. The visiting side celebrated the win with the final score of 84:79.
On the wings of a nice number of fans, that have gathered in the Stožice Arena on Sunday, the Dragons still did not manage to fly to the new win. The Montenegrin squad was up throughout the majority of the clash, but hasn’t managed to earn itself a bigger lead. The Ljubljana squad has been in front a minute before the end of the game, but in the end, the visitors have won with five points of margin (84:79).
Jurica Golemac’s squad has opened the game with a nice offensive play, ended with a bucket by the captain Jaka Blažič. The opponents have quickly taken the lead, but haven’t managed to earn themselves a bigger lead. They have won the first quarter with 2 point of margin. In the second quarter, the Dragons have stayed in touch with their opponents, took a lead a couple of times and departed to the big break with a 4-point lead (42:46).
In the third quarter, the green and orange did not manage to take the lead, but were still close. With 2-points of deficit it has been clear that the finish would be tight. The Ljubljana squad has been holding the lead a minute before the end of the game, but in the final moments, even the loud support of the fans in the arena could not help them. The Montenegrins won with the final score of 84:79.
Jacob Pullen has demonstrated a great performance. He stopped at 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Captain Jaka Blažič added 16 points and 9 rebounds.
In the forthcoming week, the Ljubljana squad will face a new competitor in the 7Days EuroCup. This time they will be hosting French side Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse. The game is on schedule on Wednesday, 20.00.
