Cedevita Olimpija senior team has suffered a defeat in the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul in the Quarterfinals of the BKT EuroCup with the final score of 85:81. Unfortunately, this means that the European season is over for the Dragons, which will now focus on the remainder of the season in the regional competition and domestic championship.
Cedevita Olimpija senior team has been defeated in the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul on Tuesday in Istanbul in the BKT EuroCup Quarterfinals and therefore concluded with their appearances in the second-tier European club competition. The score on the scoreboard in Sinan Erdem Arena has been 85:81 after 40 minutes, in favour of the home side.
Despite the fact that the European season is over for the Dragons, we can argue that the squad, led from the bench by head coach Zvezdan Mitrović has been thrilling us week after week. The main competitive goal, set before the season, the Dragons have fulfilled by qualifying for the Playoffs and the last week they downed Besiktas in front of 5000-strong crowd in Stožice. Unfortunately, this time Bahcesehir was too strong.
Now a finish of the regional competition and the Slovenian National Championship are ahead of the Dragons. On Wednesday morning, they will be back in Ljubljana, after which a tough test against Zadar follows on Sunday, 18:00 in Tivoli Sports Hall.
GAME REPORT:
Cedevita Olimpija went off for a dream-like opening of the game and was in front by no less than 17 points already after 10 minutes of play thanks to solid defensive performance (7:24). However, in the remainder of the game, the hosts increased the intensity of their game and cut the gap to 8 points already by halftime. The Dragons have been in front by 9 points (65:56) still after 30 minutes of the game, but unfortunately the hosts dominated the final quarter that they won by 13 points (29:16) and prevailed in the end with the final score of 85:81.
For Cedevita Olimpija, Danilo Tasić topped the list of scorers with 14 points, while DeVante Jones added 12.
