Big win in Podgorica

The senior team of Cedevita Olimpija basketball players defeated SC Derby with a score of 107:84 on Thursday in the 28th round of the regular season of the AdmiralBet ABA League at Morača in Podgorica. This marks the seventh win in the last eight games for the Dragons in the competition, and their eighteenth overall this season.

After securing a playoff spot in the regional league for the fourth consecutive season with a victory over Cibona in Stožice last weekend, the Ljubljana team temporarily claimed fifth place in the competition standings with their success against SC Derby in Podgorica on Thursday. In the 28th round matchup at Morača, the scoreboard showed 107:84 in favor of head coach Zvezdan Mitrović’s squad. The Ljubljana team currently stands at 18 wins and 10 losses in the regular season.

Their main rival in the race for the final fifth place, Igokea m:tel, will take the court on Saturday, facing FMP Soccerbet in Železnik.

The Dragons have two remaining games in the regular season. On Sunday, April 27, at 5:00 PM, they will host Partizan Mozzart Bet in their final home game of this phase at Stožice, and a week later, they will travel to face Krka in Novo Mesto. GAME REPORT:

In Morača, the score was initially close, but early in the second quarter, the hosts pulled ahead by 10 points (37:27). The Dragons responded quickly, scoring 33 points in the final eight minutes of the first half while allowing the hosts only 11, heading into the main break with a 60:48 lead. In the second half, the Green-Orange team maintained a high lead with dynamic offensive play and tough defense, reaching a +20 advantage for the first time in the third quarter (78:58), and after 40 minutes, they celebrated a convincing victory over the Podgorica team.

Six Cedevita Olimpija players scored in double digits, with Brynton Lemar leading the way with 20 points. Danilo Tasić contributed 16 points, Rok Radović 13, Devin Robinson 12, and both Aleksej Nikolić and DJ Stewart scored 11.

For the third time this regional season, the Dragons’ squad reached at least 100 points in a game, hitting 14 three-point shots and missing only one of their 14 free throws. They also shone with assists, totaling 27 as a team.
