On Thursday, Cedevita Olimpija’s senior team suffered a defeat against Crvena zvezda Meridianbet (101:92) in the first game of the AdmiralBet ABA League quarterfinals at Aleksandar Nikolić Hall in Belgrade. The Dragons will try to level the series on Tuesday in Stožice.
Cedevita Olimpija returns from Belgrade with a loss in the opening game of the AdmiralBet ABA League quarterfinal series against Crvena zvezda Meridianbet (101:92). The series now moves to Stožice, where the two teams will face off in Game 2 on Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Tickets for the game are already available at vstopnice.olimpija.com. Before that, the Dragons will begin their domestic league playoff campaign — in the first quarterfinal game of the Slovenian championship, they will visit Laško on Saturday at 5:30 PM.
GAME REPORT:
The spectators at Aleksandar Nikolić Hall witnessed a closely contested game for most of the matchup, with Crvena zvezda Meridianbet holding the lead for the majority of the time — leading by one point after the first quarter and by three at halftime. In both the third and fourth quarters, the red-and-whites managed to pull away to a nine-point advantage, but with seven minutes remaining, David Škara tied the game at 83:83 with a three-pointer. Just when it seemed the teams were headed for a tense finish, the home side once again pulled away to a safe lead and ultimately secured the first win of the quarterfinal series.
For Cedevita Olimpija, Umoja Gibson led the scoring with 19 points. DJ Stewart followed with 18 points, David Škara added 16, and Aleksej Nikolić scored 11.
