Cedevita Olimpija squad ends the ABA Super Cup in Podgorica at 8th place. The Dragons of Ljubljana have been defeated in the seventh place game against FMP Soccerbet in overtime (81:85).
Without Karlo Matković, Justin Cobbs, Luka Ščuka and Nikola Radičević, the Cedevita Olimpija squad has faced FMP Soccerbet in Morača Sports Hall in Podgorica, were even in a position to win the game, but in the end they have suffered a defeat with the score of 85:81 in overtime.
The Dragons have started the game with 8 players and ended with 7, since Shawn Jones has left the court early due to pain in his wrist. Rok Radović has been playing despite pain present in his ear. However, the doctors have decided that he has been able to play.
The Dragons have been in front throughout the first half and have been in front by 14 points at one point (37:23), but the Železnik squad has made a comeback and in the second half they have returned into the game for the win. Even though, after a three-pointer by Gregor Glas, Cedevita Olimpija were ahead by 3 points with several seconds left in the game, but Bojan Subotić was awarded 3 free throws just before the end of the game and he converted all of them into points. In the overtime, the Belgrade players have eventually prevailed.
Sean Armand has been the top scorer of Cedevita Olimpija with 22 points, while Gregor Glas had 21 and Jaka Blažič 10.
Cedevita Olimpija squad returns to Ljubljana on Thursday afternoon. On Monday, 17.30, the Dragons will play against Kansai Helios in the 2023 Slovenian Super Cup. The AdmiralBet ABA League season begins for the Ljubljana squad next Saturday, 18.00, when they will face Mega MIS in Stožice Arena.
