In the 11th round of the 7DAYS EuroCup Regular Season, Cedevita Olimpija has suffered its 9th defeat of the season on the European courts. U-BT Cluj-Napoca has prevailed in Stožice Arena with the score of 88:80.
It is an a tough blow for the Ljubljana squad, as it comes in the clash against the direct rival for one of the spots in the Playoffs, since the Romanian squad had one victory more than the Dragons ahead of this game and teams are currently occupying places 9 and 10 in the standings.
The visiting side pulled away quickly and led by 9 points after the opening quarter and by 7 at halftime. However, the Dragons fought their way back into the game in the third quarter and when Josh Adams hit the three-pointer midway through the quarter, the Dragons were ahead 50:49. As Yogi Ferrell scored a three-pointer with 12 seconds remaining on the clock in the third quarter, the Dragons were still ahead 57:56, but that’s when U-BT Cluj-Napoca went on an 8:0 run, that put them ahead by 7 points (57:64) with 8 minutes to go. The black and white managed to control the flow of the game in the remaining minutes and in the end, they have prevailed with the final score of 88:80.
For Cedevita Olimpija, Yogi Ferrell led the way in scoring with 27 points scored, while Lovro Gnjidić was the one to follow him with 13 on his record.
The next clash is coming up for the Dragons on Monday, when they will face Crvena zvezda Meridianbet on the road in Belgrade in the 16th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season. The game begins at 18:00.
