Successful start of the European journey

Cedevita Olimpija squad has opened its EuroCup season with a win. Only two days after playing on the road in Belgrade, they have faced Gran Canaria in Las Palmas and written down first win in the competition with the score of 79:77.

The squad, led by Jurica Golemac from the bench, is entering the strenuous rhythm of the games. After having lost against Crvena zvezda mts in the finish of the game on Sunday, they have improved their impression in the first round of the 7DAYS EuroCup. They beat Gran Canaria 79:77 and entered the new EuroCup season successfully.

The game of ups and downs was opened better by the hosts. The Dragons have let them with some errors on defense and offense to win 16 points of advantage. Another problem for the Ljubljana squad were the personal fouls. Marcus Keene left the game due to three already midway through the first qaurter. In the final minute, Jaka Blažič and Jacob Pullen scored three-pointers and set the score 30:20.

A close game lasted all until the final quartrer, it has been anybody’s game, but in the finish of the game, the Dragons have been focused enough to earn themselves a 79:77 win, first in this EuroCup season.

Jacob Pullen shined with 29 points. Jaka Blažič followed him as a true captain, scoring 16 points in the first half and finishing with 18 on his record, while adding 8 rebounds.

The new game is coming up for Cedevita Olimpija players on Sunday, when Budućnost VOLI will arrive to the Stožice Arena in Ljubljana. The green and orange will be chasing the third win in the regional competition in front of the home crowd.
