Cedevita Olimpija team defeated Frutti Extra Bursaspor for the second time this week. This time, Dragons outplayed the Turkish team with a score of 97:80.

Dragons outscored the Frutti Extra Bursaspor team for the second time in two days. In the seventh round of the 7DAYS EuroCup competition, they recorded their third consecutive and overall fourth European victory in the 2020/21 season with a score of 97:80. The two positive results achieved by Jurica Golemec’s squad in Turkey put the Ljubljana team in a favorable position before the remaining four matchups in the 7DAYS EuroCup to ensure promotion to the next round of the competition. Once again, the key to success was a quality offensive display and outstanding rebounding performance.

Players of Cedevita Olimpija opened the match with a lot of energy and imaginations on the offense. Dragons, who took the lead in the fourth minute of the match, did not allow the Bursa team to get too close to them for the remainder of the game. Jaka Blažič caught fire in the opening minutes and finished the first quarter with 13 points. Despite the home team’s scoring run in the last minutes of the second quarter, the Ljubljana team went to the break in the lead of nine points. The squad from the Dragon’s Nest allowed the Turks 15 points less in the first half than they did in the same period of Monday’s game. In a similar style, Jurica Golemec’s team continued in the second part of the match. The Dragons won the third quarter with the result 27:23, and in the last ten minutes of the match, they successfully repulsed the attacks of Bursaspor. With a stronger defense in the last quarter, the Ljubljana team led the match to a calm finish and celebrated the victory with a difference of 17 points.

The Dragons’ best scorer was again Jaka Blažič, who this time stopped at 25 points and five rebounds. 15 points and five rebounds were recorded by Rion Brown, a point fewer, and a rebound more were recorded by Jarrod Jones. Kendrick Perry scored 14 points and dished out nine assists. Edo Murić scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.

After a flawless job in Turkey Dragons are returning to Ljubljana, where they will play the seventh round game of the ABA League on Sunday. Borac Čačak will face Cedevita Olimpija on the floor of the Arena Stožice, and the match between the Slovenian and Serbian teams will be broadcast live at the Arena Sport, starting at 21:00.

STATEMENTS AFTER THE GAME

Jurica Golemac, Head Coach of Cedevite Olimpije:
“Congratulations to the players for the win, it was not an easy game. Two players had returned to the Bursaspor squad which is a very talented and offensively gifted team in which everyone can make their shots. In the first half, we were struggling on the defense but we were able to catch a breath in the second half by switching their pick and rolls. We dominated the boards which gave us the confidence to make shots on the offensive end. We will continue to take it a game at a time. For now, it looks good but we should not be satisfied yet. We can play better and there is a lot of space for improvement. We have to and we want to play better defense.”

Kendrick Perry, Player of Cedevite Olimpija:
“We came to do our job. We knew it was not going to be easy to play two games in three days. We were locked in for both games and we were able to come away with two wins “
