On Wednesday at 21.00, the players of Cedevita Olimpija will face JL Bourg for the second time in seven days in the fourth round of the second part of the 7DAYS EuroCup, this time in the French city of Bourg-en-Bresse.
After Saturday’s clash with Partizan NIS in the ABA League and the fifth consecutive victory, the basketball players of Cedevita Olimpija used the last days to rest, regenerate and prepare for a new test. On Wednesday at 9 pm in the French city of Bourg-en-Bresse, they will face JL Bourg again in the fourth round of the second part of the 7DAYS EuroCup, which they defeated last Wednesday in Stožice with 94:91.
It will be possible to watch the live television broadcast of the match on Šport TV 1.
Last Wednesday, Cedevita Olimpija and JL Bourg fought fiercely on the cone floor until the last moments of the match, and in the end, the Ljubljana basketball players were looking forward to the victory. Jaka Blažič was brilliant, with 30 points and seven rebounds and four assists, while Jarrod Jones and Mikael Hopkins scored 16 points each. Kendrick Perry scored 14 points and eight assists. Danilo Anđušić stood out for JL Bourg with 25 points.
Much like the Dragons in the ABA League, JL Bourg’s basketball players were active in the French national championship on Saturday. They beat Orleans 88:82 at home. Pierre Pelos added 23 points, 10 rebounds and Maxime Courby added 18 points, five rebounds and three assists.
After returning from France, the Ljubljana basketball players will face the 18th round of the ABA League against Budućnost VOLI in Podgorica on Saturday, followed by a break intended for cup competitions and national team activities.
STATEMENTS AHEAD OF THE GAME:
Jurica Golemac, head coach of Cedevita Olimpija:
“There are no major secrets between the two teams. This weekend, JL Bourg put on a good performance at home and beat Orleans. It is evident that the French are having injury problems, so we will see what awaits us on the day of the match. The French players still have a chance to break through among the top eight 7DAYS EuroCup teams, so I don’t expect them to give up. They will definitely want to record a victory. We have to play to the best of our ability and, above all, we have to show a much better game in defense than last week if we want to look forward to victory and continue with a positive string of successes.”
Luka Rupnik, player of Cedevita Olimpija:
“JL Bourg is a very good team, we could see that last week in Stožice. The French team has quite a few very good individuals. Bourg shows the lack of Alen Omic. We are leaving for France ready for a new test. I believe that after the victory against Partizan NIS in the ABA League on Saturday we had a good rest, and that the coaching staff will equip us with good instructions for the middle of the match.”
