Cedevita Olimpija finished the preseason tournament in Opatija at the final fourth place, after being defeated by Partizan NIS in the third place game.
After the Dragons have suffered a defeat by Pesaro on Wednesday in the tournament Semi-finals, they have suffered their second defeat of the preseason against Partizan NIS in the third place game. Head Coach Jurica Golemac had all of the players at his disposal, with an exception of mildly injured Edo Murić, who suffered a blow in the game against Pesaro, so head coach Golemac decided to leave him on the bench this time.
The Belgrade squad has been the one to open the game in a better fashion, leading by six points after the opening quarter (22:16). By halftime, they have furtherly increased their advantage and departed for the big break with a 14-point lead (33:47). In the second half the green and orange squad did not manage to turn the game upside-down and Partizan NIS celebrated the win with the final score of 83:100.
The most efficient player in the ranks of Cedevita Olimpija was this time around Marcus Keene who scored 18 points, while Zach Auguste contributed 14.
The next test is coming up for the Dragons on Monday, when they will face Bayern of Munich in a basketball spectacle in Stožice Arena.

»Congratulations to Partizan NIS for the win. For sure we haven’t been in our best mode, since we haven’t been practicing and aren’t ready for playing basketball. We had to play these games and we do not have too much time. We have taken advantage of the games as practices and want to use them to get into proper physical shape. What’s important is that nobody is injured, while only Edo Murić has slight problems. Monday’s game against Bayern is ahead of us and then we need to practice. We need to get into optimal physical shape, so that we could be psychically better as well. Obviously there are plenty of ups and downs in our game and we’re not in the right rhythm. Zach Auguste, Jacob Pullen and Jaka Blažič have undergone only two practices together, the rest of the team four or five and we have played four games in seven days. For sure it’s not nice to lose the game like that but the game has revealed a couple of things that we must take care of.«
