The newest and the most modern shopping centre Aleja was coloured green-orange-white on Monday. Cedevita Olimpija presented the new jerseys for new season at Aleja SKY and the team of Ljubljana also announced the introduction of the new website, which will follow soon.
The Dragons will march on the courts in the 2020/21 season in three sets of jerseys, that will be green, orange and white, respectively. Adidas remains official supplier of Cedevita Olimpija and the company took care that the team would look fantastic on and off the courts. The players will present themselves in the Wednesday’s game against Bayern in the new jerseys.
“I think that the previous season was a successful one. Perhaps we did not accomplish all of our goals, since those are high in sports, but there are plenty of other segments in which we have gone even higher than our goals, so the season was successful. In the financial point of view we have consolidated ourselves, which is extremely important for the club’s future. Let me remember you that a year ago we have made a revolutionary fusion, that has gathered two clubs from two different countries, that is the first case of such in Europe and many people were claiming that it wasn’t going to be possible. A year later it seems that Cedevita
Olimpija has a bright future ahead of itself,” Cedevita Olimpija President Tomaž Berločnik told and then added: “Who knows, perhaps in the previous season the results would be great in the end as well if there was no cancellation of competitions due to the coronavirus pandemic. Perhaps we could have done a lot better, but there are plenty of factors, that create the club in long-term and the team, so we have learnt some of the things.”
“All of us are doing the regular testings and take care of the sports part of the club being completely isolated of the business one. I can claim with satisfaction, that having in mind all of the epidemiological guidelines, we have done our job excellently, since so far we haven’t had a positive coronavirus case. We have made a step further from the guidelines, so we are organizing the meals for the players and coaching staff members within our arena and that’s how we keep them away from areas where lots of people gather. We are very satisfied with the fact that we have received the permit from NIJZ for having 500 fans at our game against the EuroLeague side Bayern and sincerely I hope that the pandemic goes by fast and that we will be able to play in front of the packed stands of our arena, without fear for our health and health of all of us,” the Director of Ljubljana club Davor Užbinec told and then redirected his thoughts to the club’s budget. “For sure it is smaller than it has been planned ahead of the beginning of the pandemic and despite that we have been building the team in accordance with our plans. I can claim that we have composed a great team, for which we can thank Sports Director Sani Bečirović and Head Coach Jurica Golemac.”
“Before the start of the pandemic, we have had various plans on how to prepare the team for the new season and to find the quality competitors, against which we would get the proper picture of our condition. We have faced EuroLeague side Bayer, 7Days EuroCup squad Ulm and Nymburk, that will be fighting for the Basketball Champions League trophy at the Final Eight Tournament. We can be even more satisfied with the fact that in two days, on Wednesday, 18:00 we will face Bayern again and it will be another tough test for us, the Sports Director of the Dragons, Sani Bečirović told and added: “We are discussing the possibilities of new preseason games with lots of teams, but the pandemic is still restricting the travels and additional agreements. We need to adapt to it and there is still enough time until the beginning of the season, so we can find the optimal shape and enter the new season ready for the toughest tests. I can say that the atmosphere amongst the players is excellent and all of them are ready for hard work and to make progress day by day. We have been composing the team smartly and within the boundaries of our budget. However, the court will give us all of the answers in the end.”
In accordance with the club’s vision, the club has entered the reconstruction of the official website, that will soon be available at www.cedevita.olimpija.com. New website will be modern and will be meant for all of the basketball lovers, that intend to stay informed about all the latest happening in the best basketball club in the independent Slovenia.
On Wednesday, Jurica Golemac and his players will face EuroLeague side Bayern. The Dragons and the reigning German champions will step on court on 18:00.
The game will be broadcast on Šport TV 1 and in the web live stream the fans will be able to watch it on the official Cedevita Olimpija Facebook page.
