Cedevita Olimpija faces Mornar-Barsko zlato on Saturday

With Tuesday’s victory over Nutrispoint Ilirija, Cedevita Olimpija successfully entered the last third of the 2021/22 season, and the Dragons face a new challenging test. The March madness will continue with the selected head coach Jurica Golemac in the Montenegrin seaside town of Bar, where they will face the Mornar-Barsko zlato on Saturday at 16.00 in the 21st round of the regional league.

The Cedevita Olimpija basketball players will present themselves in full force for the first time after the competitive break brought by the national team activities. On Saturday at 16.00 in the Topolica Sports Hall in the Montenegrin city of Bar, they will face the 21st round of the regional league with Mornar-Barsko zlato, and the team of head coach Jurica Golemec will chase their ninth consecutive victory.

The match will be broadcast live on Arena Sport 1, and later on TV Slovenia 2.

The Ljubljana team ended the second month of the new calendar year undefeated and with seven victories in three different competitions, and at the same time, in the middle of the month after 2017, they ascended to the Slovenian Cup throne again. Cedevita Olimpija also entered March successfully, beating Nutrispoint Ilirija (82:70) on Tuesday in the first round of the second part of the national championship in a reduced squad in the Tivoli Hall.

The basketball players of Mornar-Barsko zlato also played in the finals of the Montenegrin Cup competition, but they had to concede victory to Budućnost VOLI (77:89). Mornar started the regional league slightly worse than in previous seasons, but recently the Montenegrins have raised the level of their game and recorded some important victories. With seven wins and 11 losses, they are currently in tenth place in the regional competition rankings.

The teams competed against each other for the first time this season in the eighth round of the regional league, when Cedevita Olimpija recorded a reliable victory with 79:59 on the cone floor. At Cedevita Olimpija, Jacob Pullen scored the most points, 19, Zach Auguste and Jaka Blažič scored 11 points each, and Edo Murić and Marko Radovanović contributed 10 points each to the statistics. Vladimir Mihailović was the top scorer in the ranks of Mornar-Bar Gold with 16 points.
