At the end of the year with FMP

Basketball players and members of the professional staff of Cedevita Olimpija traveled to Belgrade in the early morning hours on Monday, where they will stay until Sunday. During this time, they will play two ABA League matches, the first on Wednesday, when they will face FMP in Železnik at 21.00 in the remaining match of the sixth round.

After the Sunday’s clash of the Round 12 of the ABA League with Mornar from Bar and the defeat in Stožice, the first, after 335 days, the Cedevita Olimpija players will have the opportunity to return to the winning rails on Wednesday at 21.00 on the outskirts of Belgrade, in the backlog of the sixth round when they will face FMP. This will also be the last test for Ljubljana’s basketball players in the calendar year 2020, but not the last this week, as they will also face Mega Soccerbet on Saturday, also in Belgrade.

Despite the fact that the Ljubljana team suffered its second defeat in the regional competition on Sunday, it was the first failure after five consecutive victories, and at the same time the second in the last 11 matches. It is for this reason that the whole team can be optimistic about the upcoming trials.

The FMP team had to concede victory to Mega Soccerbet in the Round 12on the home floor. The latter celebrated a close victory after overtime (92:91), and FMP was not helped by the fact that it was a little more than three minutes before the end of the regular part of the game with a difference of 10 points, and nine points in the overtime.

The most efficient FMP player in the 2020/21 season is Nemanja Nenadić, who averages 16.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists. After 11 matches played, FMP has two wins and nine defeats.

“We don’t have much time to prepare for the game. FMP plays better and better from game to game. The last few games our opponents have unhappily lost. The team from Železnik plays very aggressive basketball, to which we will have to respond with a physical game and control the rebounding game. We will have to stop their pick’n’roll +and, above all, show a better performance in defense than in our last match.”

“We expect a very high intesity game. We know, that FMP is a team that plays very hard during the whole 40 minutes of the game. No matter, if they’re up or down, they don’t give up. We can expect for it to be a derby run, and we have to be prepared to give our everything and leave it on the court.”
