Ahead of Cedevita Olimpija’s first home game of the new BKT EuroCup season, the Ljubljana-based club, which competes in the EuroCup under the organization of Euroleague Basketball, will once again be active in the socially responsible One Team project. The ambassador for the project in the Ljubljana club for the new season will be Žiga Daneu!
Cedevita Olimpija, together with other clubs participating in the Euroleague and EuroCup, officially enters the new season of the socially responsible One Team project, carried out by all clubs under the Euroleague Basketball organization. The purpose of the One Team project is to bring about change in the local community through basketball, with the main message being to use the power of basketball to unite communities. In the 2024/25 season, Cedevita Olimpija will continue collaborating with the Malči Beličeve Youth Home as part of the One Team project.
In the previous season, the club, together with the youths from Malči Beličeve Youth Home, organized numerous activities that further enriched the season for the children involved in the project. Among other things, Cedevita Olimpija, together with Umana Reyer, organized a trip to Venice, where the participants watched a EuroCup match between the two teams and had the opportunity to join a joint basketball practice while also exploring the city. Another trip was organized to Zagreb, where the participants enjoyed watching a regional league game against Cibona, toured the Zagreb club’s facilities, and spent part of the day at the Cedevita Basketball Home. The youths also participated in a press conference and match organization before one of the EuroCup games and continuously supported the Dragons from the stands.
For its work in the 2023/24 season, Cedevita Olimpija received a gold award for the One Team project, the first such in the club’s history, competing against Euroleague and EuroCup teams. While the project’s ambassador last season was Slovenian national team player Edo Murić, this season’s One Team project ambassador will be the young Žiga Daneu!
“Engagement in sports, especially basketball, is an excellent way for all young people to take a step forward in their personal development and grow as individuals who must face the challenges of everyday life. I am happy to become the ambassador of the One Team project, and I promise that we will have a great time with the youths of the Malči Beličeve Youth Home this season. I believe we will create a new chapter in their shared story with the club that will remain in their memories for life. I am here to help them with that, and I believe we have a great season ahead,” said Žiga Daneu upon announcing the new season of the One Team project.
Žiga, along with the rest of the team and fans, has already greeted the youths of Malči Beličeve Youth Home at Cedevita Olimpija’s first home game of the EuroCup this season. The Ljubljana club’s One Team story has already started its new chapter, with many more to come.
