The 206-centimeter-tall Amadou Sow, who spent the 2022/23 season in Blois, is moving from the French league to Ljubljana’s Cedevita Olimpija.
The senior team of Cedevita Olimpija is stronger in high playing positions for Malian player Amadou Sow, who is moving to Stožice in Ljubljana from the French national championship, where he wore the Blois jersey in the 2022/23 season. Born in Bamako, Mali, Sow studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated from Napa Christian High School before that. Sow signed a two-year deal with Cedevita Olimpija.
Cedevita Olimpija thus introduced the third reinforcement of this summer, and Sow will join newcomers Justus Hollatz and Aleksandar Šaškov in the Dragon’s Nest.
“We are very happy that we managed to bring Amadou to Ljubljana. Last season, Sow tried out in Europe for the first time, he played in France. He is a very good jumper who is capable of scoring points, and also has high ambitions. Sow will be one of the pillars of our team in the upcoming season and I hope he will help us achieve our goals. We want to build a team where he will also progress and develop into a great player,” said sports director of the Ljubljana club Vlado Ilievski on the addition of Sow to the roster for the upcoming season.
“Amadou Sow is a versatile player who can play in both high playing positions and at the same time fits into our philosophy of the new cycle of operation of Cedevita Olimpia. He also has great potential and after the season he spent in France, he will have further experience in basketball at a high level as he will join us in the European Cup and ABA League. Sow is an athletic player, and that is very important in modern basketball. He will certainly be very motivated on this next step in his career, but I think he can at our club he is still progressing. I am happy that he joined us. Already in France, he showed that he is an energetic player, and I believe that he will help us in the coming season,” said Dragons’ strategist Simone Pianigiani upon signing the contract with Sow.
“What’s up Dragon fans! I’m extremelly excited to join the team for the next season. Let’s get to work!” said Sow upon joining Cedevita Olimpija.
