At the beginning of the calendar year 2021, KK Cedevita Olimpija launched Zmajev nasmeh, a socially responsible program with which the Ljubljana club wants to return to the society and community of which it has been a part for many years. Hand in hand with the Veriga dobrih ljudi program, which takes place at the Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana Moste-Polje, part of the Dragon’s Smile project will also help families in need from all over Slovenia.
As already mentioned at the presentation of the Dragon’s Smile project, there are two values that we at KK Cedevita Olimpija always emphasize, charity and returning to the environment and the society to which we belong. With the growth of the Ljubljana collective in the field of sports and organization, the power that the Dragons can direct to charity and to draw attention to important issues that plague our society is also growing. The basic purpose of the Dragon’s Smile project is, through sports and especially basketball stories, to help vulnerable groups in society and restore hope to groups of people who may have lost it.
KK Cedevita Olimpija is extremely proud to implement the Dragon’s Smile project together with the Veriga dobrih ljudi program, which takes place under the auspices of the Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana Moste-Polje. The president of ZPM Ljubljana Moste-Polje, Anita Ogulin, is one of the strongest and most heartfelt people in Slovenia, who has improved the lives of many people by establishing humanitarian programs. Through the Veriga dobrih ljudi program, they approach families in need from all over Slovenia by providing them with support and knowledge with the aim of overcoming poverty and embarking on the path of life on their own.
In this way, the Dragon’s Smile project becomes valid, and together with the Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana Moste-Polje, the Ljubljana club will continue and further strengthen cooperation, which came to life for the first time in the 2019/20 competition season.
“The dragon’s smile came to life with a simple purpose – to give back to the society in which KK Cedevita Olimpija lives, and to give back hope to people who are in need and who are fighting for a better life every day. We are extremely happy and proud that the Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana Moste-Polje also joined our project, and we are pleased that Anita Ogulin, an extraordinary humanitarian and a person who lives charity, recognized all the potential it offers in our club,” said Davor Užbinec, director of KK Cedevita Olimpija, at the announcement of cooperation with the Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana Moste-Polje. “We need to be aware that basketball is not just a sport. Basketball is a way of life and with the right approach to the organization and our participation in the local environment, we can contribute a lot to solving the biggest problems that plague our society. I believe that with the Dragon’s Smile and the Veriga dobrih ljudi, we will help many families who may be living on the brink of despair at the moment, and with our campaign we will give them back hope for a better tomorrow.”
“Poverty does not only mean material or financial deprivation, it also means deprivation of access to education and social systems, affects the achievement of goals, means inadequate living conditions, causes exclusion from society,” said Anita Ogulin, president of the Association of Friends of Youth Ljubljana. Moste-Polje, and about the Veriga dobrih ljudi program, added: “We want to connect the Veriga dobrih ljudi with people who tell families in need all over Slovenia that they care. With your help, we enable families in need not only to survive, but also to make changes that lead them to a dignified life, to co-create a successful society. “
LET’S FILL STOŽICE ARENA FOR GOOD PURPOSE
“I believe that Slovenia will come together again and support the Dragon’s Smile project. All the players are sorry that the fans can’t be with us in the Stožice hall during these times, but with the support of the Dragon’s Smile project we can all be part of something bigger and help those who need help,” said the captain of the Cedevita Olimpija team, Jaka Blažič.
The Dragon’s Smile project is not only supported by the basketball players of Cedevita Olimpija.
All the main players of the Virtus Segafredo Bologna will also add theirs, as the campaign will take place on the day of the showdown with the main favorites to win the 7DAYS EuroCup title. So let’s fill the Stožice Arena together for a good cause!
“Let’s support the Dragon’s Smile together and see you in Ljubljana,” says the Serbian Point Guard and the Most Valuable Player of the first part of the European Cup, Miloš Teodosić, Marco Belinelli, the 2014 NBA champion and the best scorer in the first match between the Dragons and Virtus added: “See you in Slovenia on March 2. Let’s play basketball and have fun. “
The Serbian strategist on the bench of Virtus, Saša Đorđević, also added: “I would like to inform all fans that I will see you on March 2 in Ljubljana. As always, I am looking forward to coming to Slovenia. Let’s support the charity campaign Dragon’s Smile together. “
