Cedevita Olimpija has reached an agreement with American big man William McNair Jr., who will bolster our senior team under both baskets for the next two months. McNair already arrived in Ljubljana on Sunday, and the plan is for him to travel with the team on the upcoming road trip to Romania.

The senior team of Cedevita Olimpija will continue the 2025/26 competitive season reinforced with 25-year-old, 210-centimeter-tall William McNair Jr., who will strengthen the squad over the next two months and bring fresh energy under both baskets in Ljubljana. His first experience in European basketball came in Turkey, where he played for Ormanspor in the 2024/25 season, and he began the 2025/26 season with Yalovaspor.

“We are pleased to welcome Will McNair to our team. We believe that his physical presence and work ethic will bring additional stability under both baskets in the next two months. An intensive integration into the team awaits him, so we hope he will quickly find his place in our system,” said Cedevita Olimpija sports director Chechu Mulero upon signing McNair Jr.

“Given the fact that in the recent period we have been dealing with injuries to our big men, we were able to find a player on the market, which at this moment is not ideal, who could help us in the shortest possible time. William McNair Jr. has joined us — a player coming to us from the Turkish second division. We hope that with his energy, fighting spirit, and approach he will help us in the game under the basket,” said the Dragons’ head coach, Zvezdan Mitrović, upon signing the contract.

“I feel great. I feel that this is a great opportunity to prove myself on a bigger stage. Honestly, I haven’t been following Cedevita Olimpija this season. Two weeks ago, however, I was watching EuroCup and noticed the team in one of the games. I watched the game and later the highlights. The fans can expect excitement and energy from me. See you soon!” McNair Jr. said upon signing the contract.

Will McNair Jr. spent five seasons in the NCAA — from 2019 to 2022 he played for the New Mexico State Aggies, in the 2022/23 season he suited up for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and in the 2023/24 season for the Kansas State Wildcats. He appeared in a total of 149 NCAA games, averaging 4.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Statistically, he was most productive with the Kansas State Wildcats, where he averaged 8.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks over 33 games.

The 2024/25 season was his first in Europe, where he played in the Turkish second division for OGM Ormanspor. He appeared in 31 games, finishing as the team’s leading scorer and rebounder with averages of 15.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He recorded a double-double in 15 games and delivered his best performance on October 5, when he posted 21 points and 17 rebounds against Cayirova Belediye, good for a performance index rating of 35. Prior to the 2025/26 season, he joined Yalovaspor, appearing in four games and averaging 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest.
