The beginning of the preparation period is irresistibly approaching, but it is already known that we will not be following Rok Radović in Ljubljana in the coming season. The talented Radović, who has been a part of the Cedevita Olimpija organization since 2019, will play in the Cedevita Junior jersey in the 2021/22 season.
In 2019, at the age of 18, Rok Radović signed his first professional contract with Zagreb’s Cedevita, and before that Radović had trained in the younger categories of the Zagreb club. The young Slovenian basketball player moved to the Croatian capital in 2016, and spent part of his career in the Domžale Helios Suns.
For Cedevita, the 200-centimeter-tall defender played in two ABA Youth League tournaments, and in the 2018/19 season, he averaged 19.3 points, 3.7 assists and 3.3 rebounds in three games.
In the 2019/20 season, we could see Radović in the Cedevita Olimpija jersey in one match, and in the 2020/21 season, Rok got more opportunities to play. He played in 15 matches in the Slovenian national championship and averaged 6.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists. In the ABA League, he played in six games and recorded 1.7 points, 0.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists, and also in the 7DAYS EuroCup, he stepped on the floor in six games and scored 1.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0 , 5 assists per game.
With an average of 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists, Mladi Radović was the best individual of the Slovenian cadet national team at the European Championships in 2017. He has worn the Slovenian jersey in three European competitions so far, but Radović is certainly considered the future. Slovenian basketball. In 2016, Radović also presented himself at the Jordan Brand Classic match, which took place in Zagreb, and a year later at the match of the same name in Barcelona, Spain. With the Slovenian national team under the age of 20, Radović became the winner of the U20 national team tournament in Heraklion, Greece, this summer. Rok averaged 9.4 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game in five games.
Sani Bečirović, sports director of BC Cedevita Olimpija:
“Our mutual cooperation with Cedevita Junior will get a new chapter in the new season. Rok Radović will join Matej Bošnjak and Aleksa Gatarić in Zagreb, thus further strengthening the Zagreb team, which will play in the HT Premier League next season. Rok knows the environment in Zagreb, as he was part of the youth teams of the then Zagreb Cedevita, and with the fact that Cedevita Junior has an excellent sports facility and excellent conditions for work, we believe that he will take a step forward in his career, even if he lends at this point it seems like a step backwards. The first league competition in the Croatian national championship is very strong, as it has three teams that also play in the ABA League, and with that in mind, Rok will have excellent conditions for progress, which we will follow with interest in Ljubljana.”
Damir Mulaomerović, head coach of BC Cedevita Junior:
“Rok Radović spent many years in Zagreb, so he knows the conditions and atmosphere in the club and its surroundings well. He is extremely strong athletically, and I believe he will show a lot in the position of small forward or power forward. He will definitely give us energy, as he performs excellent defensive tasks, and he is also young, but he already has a lot of experience in playing serious matches at a high level. “
Rok Radović, player of KK Cedevita Olimpija and KK Cedevita Junior:
“I’m really happy with the fact that I’m going back to a club I know very well. I think it is best to continue my career in Zagreb, if the decision has been made to gain experience in another environment. Matej Bošnjak and Aleksa Gatarić are also here as players of Cedevita Olimpija, I played together with Jacović. A strong and talented team is being built, and I believe that under the leadership of coach Damir Mulaomerović, we will all raise the level of individual quality, and that we will prove ourselves in the HT Premier League. We have a period of playing and hard training ahead of us, and I am sure we will be right when the season starts. We’re not favorites in the league, but I think we’re going to take care of a lot of surprises against, on paper, better teams than us. I had a great time in Ljubljana last season, I played a lot of minutes in the senior team and I think I learned a lot from coach Jurica Golemec, but now I have a period in which I have to prove myself and confirm that I am worthy of trust, and that I can play in a club like Cedevita Olimpija. “
