Cedevita Olimpija squad has written down sixth straight win in the regional competition in its 24th round and 12th straight altogether on the international stage. In the legendary Tivoli Hall with the scent of history, they have been following the rhythm of Partizan NIS all game long and in the finish of the game, they won with the score of 81:79. This win secures the Dragons a spot in the regional league Playoffs.
In the packed Tivoli Hall, Cedevita Olimpija and Partizan NIS squads have demonstrated an extremely tight performance. The luck was on the side of the Dragons this time, as they have crowned the relentless performance throughout the game with a win in the end with the score of 81:79.
Partizan NIS may have been in front for the majority of the game, but it have been Cedevita Olimpija, that have won the finish. Partizan NIS were in front 77:69 with 5 minutes to go, but then a 10:0 run followed by the Dragons, which has been finished by Yogi Ferrell, who scored a three-pointer for 79:77. Kevin Punter tied the game on the other end, but then Yogi Ferrell continued his show, scoring a decisive pair of points, with half a minute left, to set the final score and afterwards came up with a game-winning steal with less than a second on the game clock. The rest was history.
For Cedevita Olimpija Jaka Blažič headed the list of scorers with 25 points. Zoran Dragić added 14, alongside 6 rebounds. Yogi Ferrell and Alen Omić added 13 points apiece.
A celebration of the 75 years of Cedevita Olimpija marked the clash in Tivoli. Thus, both teams have presented themselves in the jerseys from the period of former Yugoslavia.
Members of Olimpija from the Yugoslav National Championship were enjoying the game in the stands – Jure Božič, Ivo Daneu, Jože Fišer, Marjan Kandus, Djuro Lemajić, Tine Logar, Miha Lokar, Peter Marter, Andrej Osterc, Jože Podboj, Pavle Polanec, Sašo Poljšak, Peter Samaluk, Dušan Verbič, Helmut Volovšek and Aljoša Žorga. The Ljubljana club has honoured them during the big break.
