The players of Cedevita Olimpija’s senior team suffered a defeat against Neptunas from Klaipeda (91:94 in Wednesday’s Round 5 game of the BKT EuroCup regular season in Stožice.
Cedevita Olimpija suffered their first home defeat of the 2025/26 competitive season on Wednesday in Stožice. In the fifth round of the BKT EuroCup regular season, the team from Ljubljana lost to Neptunas from Klaipeda, who were better than the squad led by head coach Zvezdan Mitrović with the final score of 94:91. For the Dragons, this is their second loss after opening the EuroCup season with three consecutive wins.
The Ljubljana team now has a short break – they will not take the court in the regional league this coming weekend, while next Wednesday they will travel to the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca, where at 18:00 (Slovenian time) they will face U-BT Cluj. The latter celebrated a convincing 95:76 road win over Hamburg in this round.
Cedevita Olimpija will return to their home court on Sunday, November 9, when at 19:30 they will host Vienna, the newcomer to the regional league, in Stožice. The matchup with the team from Vienna will also mark the beginning of a stretch of four consecutive home games – between November 9 and 19, the Dragons will host Vienna, Umana Reyer, Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet, and Hamburg at Stožice.
GAME REPORT:
Already in the first quarter, the visitors turned the course of the game in their favor, as they won the opening period by as many as 18 points (16:34). The Dragons did not give up and continued to fight fiercely to get back into contention for the win, and have even briefly taken the lead midway through the last quarter, but they lacked strength to stay in front and perform a major comeback, and the Ljubljana team suffered its first defeat of the season on the floor of Arena Stožice.
Aleksej Nikolić has been the most efficient in scoring on the side of Cedevita Olimpija with 19 points on his record, while Umoja Gibson and David Škara had 17 points apiece.
