Cedevita Olimpija recorded an important victory on Tuesday in the legendary Hala Tivoli, defeating Romania’s Cluj 86:80 in a matchup of the 15th round of the BKT EuroCup regular season, thus taking a significant step toward qualifying for the competition’s playoffs.
On Tuesday, the legendary Hala Tivoli carried a sense of nostalgia. A basketball spectacle in the EuroCup, music from the 1990s, former players gathered courtside, and the excellent atmosphere in the stands all propelled the Cedevita Olimpija senior team to an important win over Romanian side Cluj in the 15th round of the BKT EuroCup regular season. The scoreboard in the arena beneath Rožnik showed 86:80 in favor of the Dragons, who thereby made an important step toward the playoffs and toward finishing second in Group A of the EuroCup standings. The Slovenian champions defeated Cluj for the second time this season, and the two teams will meet again in the battles among the top eight teams in the regional league.
The players coached by head coach Zvezdan Mitrović will conclude the regular season with three consecutive away games—next week they travel to Venice, then to Hamburg, and finally to Wroclaw. Already on Friday, however, Cedevita Olimpija will return to the court, this time in Zadar, where another important game awaits them in the fight for the top of Group B in the ABA League.
