Without a win in Belgrade

Cedevita Olimpija suffered a 97:77 defeat against Crvena zvezda Meridianbet on Saturday in the derby of the 12th round of the first phase of the AdmiralBet ABA League, played in the legendary Aleksandar Nikolić Hall.

Cedevita Olimpija’s winning streak in the regional league came to an end at eight games. The Ljubljana Dragons suffered their second loss of the season on Saturday in Belgrade, as Crvena zvezda Meridianbet proved the better team in the derby of the 12th round of the first phase, celebrating a 97:77 victory.

The Ljubljančani will continue their pre-Christmas tour of two consecutive away games in Thessaloniki, where the Cedevita Olimpija squad will travel on Sunday directly from Belgrade. On Tuesday, the Dragons face a very important clash there in the 12th round of the EuroCup regular season against Aris, where they will try to end a run of two consecutive defeats in the European competition.

GAME REPORT:

The game was relatively even for most of the first quarter, after which the home side led by four points (28:24). The key run by the red-and-whites came between the 10th and 15th minutes of the game, when they put together a 17–0 streak and pulled away to an 18-point lead (42:23). With 25 minutes remaining in the game, it became clear that a comeback would be extremely difficult for the Ljubljana side, and it ultimately did not materialize.

For Cedevita Olimpija, Aleksej Nikolić scored 17 points, followed by Will McNair with ten points.
