The basketball players of Cedevita Olimpija will face an important Round 7 BKT EuroCup matchup against Umana Reyer on Wednesday at 18:30 in Stožice Arena. Tickets for the game are still available at vstopnice.olimpija.com, and a lively evening is ahead — the fourth edition of Student Night is here, which means plenty of fun activities in the arena for students!

Cedevita Olimpija is preparing for one of its most important home games in the first half of the EuroCup Regular Season. On Wednesday at 18:30, the Venetian team Umana Reyer comes to Ljubljana, just behind the Dragons in Group A standings. After six games, Ljubljana’s side holds a 4–2 record, while Venezia stands at 3–3 — the same as Cluj, BAXI Manresa, and Neptunas.

Both teams enter this matchup with strong momentum from their previous EuroCup games. Venezia crushed Hamburg 90–55 at home for their second straight win, while the Dragons snapped a two-game EuroCup losing streak with a 93–87 road victory over Cluj in Romania.

Since 2021, the teams have faced off eight times in the EuroCup, with the head-to-head record perfectly balanced at 4–4. This season, however, both victories have gone to Cedevita Olimpija.

To avoid traffic congestion in the Stožice garage, fans are encouraged to arrive early — at least 45 minutes before usual — and to use public transportation. With a valid game ticket, you can ride Ljubljana’s public buses for free three hours before and after the game.

If you’re coming by car, please use nearby parking areas (Žale I–V, Kranjčeva, Gosarjeva). The arena garage will be open until all limited spaces are filled.

QUOTES BEFORE THE GAME

Zvezdan Mitrović, head coach:
“We’re facing Venezia, an excellent team playing great basketball lately. They’re coming to Stožice after two EuroCup wins in a row. Early in the season, they struggled a bit, but now they’re showing their true quality. They have a lot of offensive talent, a serious budget, a great head coach, and a well-built roster. This will be a big challenge for us — we only have two days to recover from the game against Vienna and prepare for Wednesday. We’ll see if any of our injured players can return, though I doubt it — but let’s wait and see. Right after the Vienna game, I congratulated the players for their attitude, and now our focus is fully on Venezia. They’re very talented offensively, so we’ll need to be sharp.”

Jaka Blažič, captain:
“We’re already focused on the game against Venezia. Our goal is to collect as many wins as possible and secure a strong position in the group. Venezia is a very talented team, so we must prepare well and stay disciplined on defense if we want another EuroCup win.”

Miha Cerkvenik:
“We started this four-game home stretch with a win over Vienna, which gives us confidence for the next games in Stožice. We know tough opponents are coming, and we want to show character and protect our home court. Venezia is a difficult opponent with a lot of individual quality — every player can attack one-on-one, so our defensive principles will be key. Defense will be the key to victory. Venezia plays physically, so we know it’ll be a battle, but I believe we’ll be ready and give our best to win at home. Hopefully, many fans join us — it’s always great to play in front of full stands; it makes things tougher for our opponents, too.”

GAME PREVIEW

Umana Reyer, coached by Neven Spahija, opened the EuroCup season with losses to Aris and Bahçeşehir, then bounced back with a strong home win over Neptunas and a close defeat in Cluj. Recently, they’ve beaten Śląsk Wrocław and Hamburg, both convincingly.

Their scoring is well-distributed — only Kyle Wiltjer (12.7 ppg) and RJ Cole (11.8 ppg) average double figures, while Chris Horton stands out as their most efficient player with 9.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and a performance index of 18.0. Venezia is one of only six EuroCup teams averaging at least 90 points per game.

After a slow start to the season, Venezia is in red-hot form — before coming to Ljubljana, they recorded five straight wins in all competitions. Over the weekend, they defeated Udine (94–87) and Sassari (89–76) in the Italian league, with Jordan Parks leading the way with 21 points against Sassari.

Cedevita Olimpija also enters the game on a two-game winning streak — after the road win in Cluj, they returned home and dominated Vienna 86–59. After a slow start, Zvezdan Mitrović’s team took control in the second quarter and never looked back. Umoja Gibson led the team with 22 points, while captain Jaka Blažič added 14.
